Photinia Fraseri Red Robin
Photinia Fraseri (Standard) Red Robin Arguably the most well-known of its species, ‘Red Robin’ is an attractive and much-loved evergreen shrub. Our standard variety has been expertly trained into a standard (lollipop) shape, to provide a striking architectural and formal effect in any garden or patio. The glossy evergreen foliage provides year-round interest and structure, but it looks its best during spring and early summer when the young leaves emerge scarlet red. The Spring foliage is complemented by rounded clusters of creamy white flower too, while the leaves mature to a light green later in the season. ‘Red Robin’ is easy to grow and is a low maintenance specimen plant. A great option for beginner gardeners or smaller gardens, as it thrives as a neat and compact shrub. If you give it a quick prune every year, this will help it maintain it’s best two-tone colours and encourage more red growth. This versatile shrub will happily grow in the sun, partial shade and in virtually any soil type. Alternatively, plant it in woodland areas and shrubberies for its striking colour. Being reliable and unfussy makes ‘Red Robin’ the perfect shrub for every kind of garden, whether grown as a standard tree or in a large patio container. For a modern and symmetrical look, you can buy two standard varieties and grow in pots on either side of a doorway, entrance or pathway. Height and spread: 301cm+.
