Lonicera X Brownii Dropmore Scarlet Long flowering variety! Flowering over a long period from July to September the ‘Dropmore Scarlet’ is a fierce honeysuckle with long, trumpet-shaped red-orange flowers, sometimes followed by vibrant red berries. With exception to the bitterest of winters this Honeysuckle is robust and semi-evergreen. The ‘Dropmore Scarlet’ is excellent for rapidly covering walls and fences or unsightly features in the garden. Despite being unscented, this vigorous climber more than compensates with its flame-coloured blooms and blue-green leaves. Culinary uses: Parboiled the leaves can be used as a vegetable. The sweet nectar from the flowers can be sucked and made into a syrup or puddings. Tea can also be produced from the flowers, leaves, and buds. Height: 4m (13′). Spread: 2m (7′).
