Aquilegia vulgaris
Commonly known as a Columbine, Aquilegia vulgaris is a hardy perennial well suited to cottage gardens, and they make excellent cut flowers too! This Aquilegia produces two tone, nodding blooms in shades of blue, purple, pink and white, sure to catch your eye wherever they’re grown. Perfect for growing in cottage garden planting schemes, cutting and displaying in vase displays and in patio pots. Grow aquilegias in a sun or part shade in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Columbines hybridize readily, be aware that any self-sown seedlings may not come true to type.
