Yucca Elephantipes
Instantly identifiable for its thick woody stem and bold stags-head of rigid, green, sword-like foliage. Yucca elephantipes is a bold house plant with an upright habit, making it perfect for creating a distinctive display without taking up too much floor space. This low maintenance, undemanding plant has a particularly architectural appearance which is why it is popular for making an excellent contemporary display. Over time, and with plenty of water, it will mature to a sizable and most impressive plant. Position in a sunny spot (ideally south facing) with a room temperature of between 7C (44F) to 24C (75F). Water freely between the spring and autumn months, allowing the plant pot to drain well each time. in the winter reduce the amount of watering but do not let the soil dry out completely. Feed between March and September. As the plant grows some leaves will naturally die out, carefully remove these to keep a healthy display. Height: 10m (32′). Spread: 4.5m (14′). Select from either a 17cm or 21cm pot.
